The Spirit Award shall be awarded to the player who best exhibits the true spirit of a dedicated teammate, friend and family member.
The award bears the name of a former teammate, Jason Lorenti, a member of the class of 2003. Jason was an undersized defensive player, who lacked the physical tools necessary to be successful in the game of football. His spirit, however, allowed him to overcome all obstacles.
His heart, determination and ability to use mind over body allowed him to lead all tacklers in 2002, his senior season.
He was not a recruited football player, and was not an All-State player. He was, however, the embodiment of the word "teammate".
The winner of this award exhibits the same warrior spirit that defined Jason Lorenti.
