After serving as a director for the Riverside Football Program in Greenwich for ten years, Joe Kaufman came to Stamford High in 2002.
He directs the Black Knights Tight Ends. He also serves as the head coach of the Junior Varsity and Sophomore teams.
Kaufman
is credited with the early development of Kenny Fersner and
Jimmy West, and spends countless hours tutoring the student-athletes
at SHS. He also serves as an assistant wrestling and assistant
baseball coach.

Joe is a graduate of Farleigh Dickinson (B.A.) and Fairfield University (M.A.) and works as a Special Education teacher at SHS. He and his wife, Patricia Popiel have four children. They reside in Stamford.
