SHS Alum, Blair Smart receives Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week Honors

Central Connecticut junior linebacker Blair Smart earns the honor following a stellar performance in a 21-13 victory over Wagner on Saturday afternoon that handed the Seahawks their first conference loss of the season. Smart and the Blue Devils remain unbeaten in league play (3-0) and in a tie for the top spot in the league. CCSU returns to action at home on Saturday at 11 a.m. hosting Monmouth.

Smart had his most successful game in a Blue Devil uniform posting a career-high in tackles including a pair for a loss in the victory. Smart registered a team-high 13 tackles including 2.5 for a loss as Central Connecticut won for the third straight week.

The sophomore Left Tackle started in the Minutemens' homecoming win over Northeastern.

The sophomore linebacker led the Owls with 12 total tackles in their 3rd-consecutive victory.

Ross Bertrand, Albany
The freshman DB registered 5 total tackles in a win over St. Francis (PA).

Matt Vitti, University of Rhode Island
The sophomore played in the Rams game versus Richmond.

Dontay Wilson, Kutztown
The junior RB exploded for 152 yards and 2 TD in the Bears win over Cheyney.

Desmond Hinds, Iona
The freshman DB played in the Gaels' game vs. New Hampshire.

Ted Weller, Union
The junior played in the Dutchmans' win versus Susquehanna.

Pego Jean-Paul , Endicott
The senior co-captain registered 6 solo stops, 2 assists and a pass breakup in the Gulls' victory over Western New England.

Dan Weamer, Maine Maritime
The freshman Center started in the Mariners victory over Framingham State.
